Editor's Field Report

Tested on Coastal Oregon + Cascade fall, 2025
We walked dogs in this shell through 18 days of sustained Pacific Northwest rain — coastal Oregon March downpours and Cascade November shoulder season. The waterproof shell held water out across hour-three walks with no whistle-flap noise and no armpit rub. The packable hood actually folds into the collar (rare in our experience) and stays out of the way until you need it. The harness portal aligned with our favorite Y-front harnesses without stretching the seam. After a muddy session it wiped clean in 30 seconds. It packs flat into its own chest pocket — about the size of a sandwich. Not a thermal layer; pair with a fleece base if temps drop below 40°F.
