Editor's Field Report

Tested on Pacific Crest Trail Section J, October 2025
We ran this 1.5" webbing leash through a six-day stretch of PCT Section J — sandstone, granite scramble, two unintended creek immersions. The traffic handle near the clip saved us twice on narrow ledge sections where pulling Boomer in close was the only option. The bungee shock zone absorbed lunges without jolting our shoulder. Webbing showed zero fraying after 60 trail miles + drag through scree. The swivel clip didn't tangle even when our dog spun on a steep approach. Length felt right at 5'4" — long enough for slack on open trail, short enough to control through brush. After the trip we washed it twice in cold water; the reflective stitching held color and reflectivity.
