Editor's Field Report

Tested on Moab red rock + summer pavement, 2025
We ran this four-pack on eight weeks of mixed terrain — hot pavement afternoons, red rock scree, and pine-needle forest duff. Boots stayed on for two-hour windows when sized to the paw tracing guide; the soft sole flexed enough for a natural stride without folding under on edges. Velcro held through dust and light rain. We rinsed grit at trailhead and air-dried overnight. They are not mountaineering crampons — deep snow and ice need the storm boot sibling — but for summer scree and sidewalk heat they prevented the pad cracks we saw on bare-paw control weeks. Fit fails more than fabric: measure width and length, not guess from weight alone.
